E-Waste: Time for Green Electronics and Take-Back Laws
The story in The Story of Electronics is all too familiar – at least the consumer end of it. We all have those corners of our homes and garages that are veritable graveyards of old chargers, cell phones, modems, backup devices, CDs, desktops, monitors, keyboards, laptops, VCRs, VHS tapes and rewinders, TV remotes, 3-1/4″ diskettes, perhaps even floppy disks! The list is endless. With electronic products “designed for the dump”, e-waste is a real problem, and a very serious one. The Story of Electronics lifts the hood on one more nefarious effect of an irresponsible market economy on the well-being of the earth.
