What are the benefits of becoming a SmartBean member?
By registering as a SmartBean member, you will be able to comment on posts in the magazine and library, review products in the store, rate articles and products in the magazine, library and store to promote the ones you like, share articles and product reviews with friends, order products from the store, view and track your orders, and create and share your wishlists.
Once you’ve registered, you can use the ‘Sign In’ link on the top right of the SmartBean pages to log in to your SmartBean account and enjoy full access to the site.
How do I become a member?
Use the ‘Sign Up’ link on the top right and submit a simple form with your username (displayed on the site), you name, a valid email address and password. Note that the email address needs to be verified in order to activate a user account, so please be sure to check your e-mail and click the email confirmation link from SmartBean. Check your email Spam folder as well if you don’t see such an email in your Inbox. Feel free to contact SmartBean support if you’d like the confirmation email resent, or if you run into any other problems with signing up for SmartBean membership.
Can I change my e-mail address or user name?
Once you have registered you cannot change your email address or user name. Your valid email address also serves as your credential for signing into SmartBean. If you’d like to use another email address for SmartBean, you could go ahead and create a new user account.

How do I rate or comment on an article?
Use the comment box below posts, and also be able to rate posts to help promote things you like in the magazine and library. You need to be signed in to your account in order to do this.
How do I share articles with friends?
Use the ‘e-mail’ link that appears with the post to share it with up to 5 friends via a single e-mail. You can also attach a short message with your email. You need to be signed in to your account in order to do this.
How do I rate or review a product?
Once you’re signed in, you will be able to see the ‘Leave a Review’ box below the product description and the SmartBean editor’s review. Use the rating stars to rate posts to help promote products you like in the store to help other members of the SmartBean community make wise purchase decisions. You need to be signed in to your account in order to do rate products.
How will I know when new articles have been posted to the site?
You could receive regular alerts from SmartBean in one of two ways –
- Use the orange RSS button to receive your alert as an RSS feed. You need to have an RSS Reader in order to receive feeds that you subscribe to. Learn more about RSS feeds here.
- Use the email button to receive daily updates in your mail inbox.
Additionally, you could subscribe to the SmartBean newsletter which is sent via email at regular intervals to registered members who opt to receive them. Check your ‘Account Settings” to view/change this setting.
Can I stop receiving updates from SmartBean?
While it is convenient to receive SmartBean content updates as RSS feeds or email updates, you may find that you prefer to browse the site daily. If you wish to stop receiving regular updates for this or any other reason, you could simply use the ‘unsubscribe’ feature in your RSS reader in the case of RSS feeds, or the ‘unsubscribe’ link at the bottom of the email update you receive.
You could also toggle your SmartBean newsletter settings at any time using the ‘Account Settings’ link once you’re signed in.
How do I submit feedback or comments on the site?
Use the ‘Contact Us’ link at the bottom of SmartBean pages to send us your feedback or comments on the site.
Beta users could use the ‘Feedback Wanted’ button on the Home, Magazine & Library pages to send us feedback – what they think about the site, problems they may have encountered, and/or ideas and suggestions for improvement.
